[10] Georg Neuweiler (1878-1953), a stu- dent in Section VI A, took the intermediate examination at the same time as Maric (ETH Matrikel, SzZE Rektoratsarchiv, file no. 85, and Hurwitz to Bleuler, 19 October 1899, SzZE Schulratsarchiv, 1899, no. 703). EINSTEIN ON THERMAL, ELECTRICAL, AND RADIATION PHENOMENA Einstein's abiding interest in thermal, electrical, and radiation phenomena and their relationships may have been stimulated by H. F. Weber, his physics professor at the ETH. Weber did research on specific heats, thermal and electrical conductivity, and black body radiation[1] and discussed these topics in his lectures.[2] Einstein may have used Weber's laboratory to perform experiments to test his own ideas on specific heats (see Doc. 58). His Diplomarbeit on heat conduction was prepared under [1] For a bibliography of Weber's publi- cations, see Weiss 1912. [2] Doc. 37 is Einstein's notes on Weber's introductory lectures on heat and electricity. Weber discussed black body radiation in an- other course that Einstein took (see the notes of Emil Teucher on "Prinzipien, Apparate und Messmethoden der Elektrotechnik," winter semester of 1898-1899, SzZE Bibliothek, Hs 32).
