meeting

the BNV

was suggested

Einstein “be courted”

German national committee in
the Great
Council
of
the Central
Organization
for
a
Durable Peace
(see
minutes
of
the BNV
meeting
of
that
date,
Gy-
Ar,
Nachlaß Walther
Schücking,
Vol. 65),
an organization
which had in turn been constituted
by
the
Dutch
Anti-War Council
(see
Doc.
73,
note
2).

had invited influential
persons
to attend
an
inter-
national
congress
to
be held
from
14 until
18
December 1915 in
Bern
to
study
and debate the condi-
tions
necessary
for
the creation
of
a
postwar
league
of
nations

to
the
first
volume).
Einstein’s
election
to
the Great Council
implies
that he
was
asked
to
participate
in
this
congress.

ermutigt,

welcher

zug
auf
Form und
Tendenz
jede
Freiheit
gegeben
war.
Selbstverständlich
bin
ich
gar
nicht
erstaunt oder
gar ungehalten, wenn
Sie
von
meinen
Bemerkungen
keinen
Gebrauch machen werden. Ich bitte Sie aber in
diesem
Falle,
mir dieselben
wieder
zuzusenden.
