J’avais d’abord l’intention de me faire représenter par mon ami le psy- chologue Wertheimer, Professeur à l’Université de Berlin, mais il était en vacances à Prague et il est si sauvage qu’il a longtemps hésité à accepter.[1] Il m’a ainsi fait attendre tant et si bien qu’à la fin il était trop tard. Je me suis adressé ensuite à M. Troeltsch, mais lui aussi était en voyage de sorte qu’aujourd’hui je dois partir sans avoir terminé cette affaire.[2] Je vous prie de ne pas attribuer cet échec à une mauvaise volonté de la part de mes amis d’ici, mais à ce fait que ne se trouvait à Berlin aucune des personnes à qui j’avais songé et qui, j’en suis persuadé, étaient auraient toute été désignées pour me remplacer.
