ALS. [43 481]. 98. From Hans Ludendorff Potsdam, 16 June 1923 AE has been misinformed by Felix Stumpf in Abs. 92. The telescope was indeed donat- ed to the institute by Siemens & Halske (S&H) in exchange for photographs of the elec- trical equipment delivered to the institute by S&H. Stumpf himself, as Freundlich af- firms, has mentioned the fact to Pahlen. Stumpf left his job two months earlier without permission. Therefore, the institute does not have the obligation, as their legal adviser, Ruge, has confirmed, of relinquishing a piece of equipment that is worth ca. 500,000 M. TLS. [11 272]. 99. Is happy that her idea of writing a biogra- phy of AE is welcomed. Paul Winteler has written three times to SAG consortium without any result. Asks for help in that regard. Is sorry to hear that uncle Jakob’s wife has left him. Wants to help him, after all that he had done for their mother (Pauline Einstein), but does not know how. Has not received Elsa’s long letter that she had written before their departure for the Far East, but has received postcards sent from Japan and India. Paul is surprised by Zürcher’s silence.
