which
one
does
not
hear
the
harmonics of
the
buzzer.[6]
It would be
good
if the
telephones
with
horse-shoe
magnets
were
provided
with the kind
of metal bands
used
by
phone operators,
which
can
be fixed
to
the
ear,
so
that both hands
are
free
during
the
experiment.
At the
same
time,
I would like to ask
you
to send
some
coal
powder
for
the
microphones.
For
we
would like
to make
a
microphone
similar
to
the buzzer
micro-
phone.
Thank
you again very
much for
having
received
us so
amicably
in
Bern.[7]
It
was a
pity
that
I
couldn't
spend
more
time with
you
in
pleasant
conversation.
But
we
will
make
up
for it this
summer.
With
cordial
greetings
to
you
and

Lucien Chavan
Zurich, 17 May

Dear
Mr.
Chavan,
I
see
to
my
great regret
that
the Basel firm had filled
my
tea
order
incorrectly.
The
tea
was
meant to
be
a
little
present to
you,
& to
this end
we
turned
to
the
firm in Basel
before
our
departure.[1]
They
filled
my
order
wrongly
but
will
surely
correct
their mistake
within the
next few
days.
Please
forgive
us
for this
mistake,
of
which
we are
totally
innocent.
With
friendly greetings
to
you
and
your
wife,
your
A.

Ludwig
Hopf
[Zurich,
21
June
1910]
Dear
Mr.
Hopf,[1]
When
we
made
our
arrangements,
I
forgot
that
I
have
a faculty
meeting
tomorrow
at
5
o'clock.[2]
I
therefore
asked Mr. Abraham[3]
to
come
to
dinner
tomorrow
after
the
meeting (at
half
past
seven).
You
are
also invited.
I
will also invite
Mr.
Rusch[4]
and
probably
Prof. Zermelo.[5]
With
best
regards,
your
Einstein
