climate. Now I
clearly
feel that
I
am
getting
better.
I
suffered
so
much
from
over-
exertion
and
depression, which,
to
my
greatest dissatisfaction, greatly
lowered
my capacity
for
work,
that
I would do
everything
to
increase
it.
According
to
Mr.
Just's
regular
reports,
the electrical
installation
is
still
lagging
so
much
behind[14]
that
my
presence
is
not
really
so
essential.
So
please
do
me a
favor and
try
to
obtain the
government's
approval
for
a
longer
absence.
After
all,
I will not be able
to
endure
staying away
much
longer.
With
best
regards
to
Director
Schmidt,
and
many many good wishes,
I
remain
yours
truly,

To
Georg
Bredig[1]
[Zurich,

I like
the
papers
of
your
Mr.
Polanyi[3] very
much. I checked
the essentials
and
found
all
fundamental
points
to be
correct.
The idea that
the
entropy at p
= oo
behaves
like
that
at T
=
0
is
a
very
felicitous
one.
The best
way
to
back this
up is to
assume
a
finite limit volume at
p
= oo,
which
is to
say infinitely increasing elasticity
coefficients.
In
that
way
the theorem
follows
immediately
in
accordance
with
Debije's
felicitous
derivation of the
law
of
specific
heats.
If
I
might
wish for
one
thing regarding
the
papers,
it would be
greater
conciseness. This would make
them
even more
persuasive.

To Unknown Addressee
[Zurich,
2 March
1913]
Dear
Sir:
...
Under the
pressure
of
various
obligations,
I
lost
sight
of
this matter. So
now
I
regret
it
even more
that
I
cannot
possibly satisfy your
request.
So
often
have I
had
to
speak
and write about the foundations of the
relativity
theory
that
I
have
gotten
sick
of
the whole
topic.
In
addition,
my style
is
extraordinarily ponderous
and
indigestible.
But I know
a
solution
Einstein
suggests
that the addressee
avail
himself of
a
lecture written
in shorthand, which he
is
sending
him.
...
This
stenogram
as
such
is
unusable. But
I
know
a
gentleman
who
understands
your
project
very
well and who
perhaps
might
be
willing
to
prepare
the lecture
...
I
