Esteemed Dr.
Ladenburg:[1]
Delighted
by your
interest
in
that
paper,
I
am
sending
you
three
copies
(one
for
you,
and two for
the other
two
gentlemen.[2]
Respectfully yours,
A.

Office,

To
Conrad Habicht

Dear Konrad:
I
heard
from
your brother[1]
about the
horribly
bad luck
you
had, which
now
prevents
you
from
enjoying your
Christmas
vacation.[2]
We-i.e.,
Ehrat,
myself,
and
my
wife-were
thinking
of
you
with
proper
devotion
and
chatted about
you
yesterday, as we
were sitting
around
until
midnight
or so.
If
only
the terrible
pains
would subside
soon.
Ehrat
is
a
great
joy
to
me.
One
does
not
often
meet
such
a
fellow.
He
would like
to
come
to work
as an
Expert
at the
office,[3]
and
I
believe
that
he will succeed.
It
would
be
advantageous
both for
him and for
the
office.
In
the
months of October
and
November
I
was
very busy
with
a
paper-partly
a
review,
and
partly
a
presentation
of
new
material-concerning the
Relativity Principle.[4]
I will
send
you
the
thing
in due time.
At the
moment I
am working on a
relativistic
analysis
of the
law
of
gravitation
by means
of
which I
hope
to
explain
the still
unexplained
secular
changes
in
the
perihelion
of
Mercury.[5]
When the weather
conditions
in
Paul's
laboratory
become milder
again,
he will
construct
the electrostatic
Maschinchen in
the form he has
now
given
to
it.[6]
I
am
very
curious how much
can
be
achieved-I
have
rather
great
hopes.
I have
dropped
the
patent,
mainly
because of
the
manufacturers'
lack
of interest.
Greetings
from
your
A. E.
[...][7]
Due
to
the beautiful
inkblot,
this
letter
is
also
an
advertisement
for
my high-class
fountain
pen.[8]
