already,
and
had the
pleasurable experience
of
convincing
the mathematicians
there
thoroughly.[5]
Berlin
is
no
match
for
Göttingen,
as
far
as
the
liveliness of
academic
interest
is
concerned,
in this
field
at least.
It
is
not
without
reason
that
they procured
the
highly
talented
Debye,
who has
again
done
magnificent
things.[6]
I shall tell
you
more
about that
when
I
come
to
Zurich.
I
would still
like to
come
this
year
in the
summer
when
I
can see
my children; traveling
to
Zurich
without
seeing my boys
would be far too
painful
for
me.
Abraham
was
in Zurich for
a
long time, maybe
he is
still there.
Do take
a
look at him sometime.
I
am
still
of
the
opinion
that
he
would be
the
right man
for
Zurich.[7]
Now I
am
going
to
Rügen
with
my
relatives for
a
few
weeks.[8]
I
am
immensely
looking
forward
to
becoming
acquainted
with
the
sea.
In
personal respects
I
have
never
been
so
at
peace
and
happy as now.
I
am
living
a
very
secluded and
yet
not
lonely
life,
thanks
to
the
loving
care
of
my
cousin,
who had drawn
me
to Berlin
in the
first
place,
of
course.[9]
Her
having
herself cooked lunch for
a
group
of
poor
women
every day
this
winter
gives
you
an
idea of her kindheartedness. Taken
altogether, I
cannot
avoid
envying myself
when
others
fall
short
of
doing
so.
Among my
truly
profound
colleagues,
like Planck
and
Hilbert,
the
wish
to up-
hold cordial relations with like-minded scholars abroad
is
very
much
alive.
Hilbert
now
regrets doubly,
as
he told
me, having neglected
to
maintain
international
re-
lations
better.[10]
Planck
is
doing everything
to bridle
the
chauvinistic majority
at
the
A[cademy].[11]
By
the
way,
I
must
say
that
in
this
regard
the
hostile
nations
deserve
one
another!
I
had
wanted to
bring
your
manuscript[12]
with
me myself.
But
now
that
I
do not know when
I’m
going
to
be able
to
travel
to
Switzerland,
I
am
sending
it
along
to
you.
I
wish
you happy
and
relaxing holidays.
Best
regards, yours,
Einstein
also
to
Heller;
what’s
the
news on
his
examination?[13]

Dear
Friends,
Please inform
me
where
the furniture should be
delivered;[1]
the
mover
is
asking
so
that he
can
make
a
precise
cost estimate.
I
am now
going
to
be
at
Rügen (Sellin) on
vacation
until around
August
5th. The removal
