DOCS.

473 MARCH

very pleased
if
I
could visit
you.
Or
are
you coming
to Switzerland
again
during
the
holidays?
With
best
regards
and utmost
respect, yours,

Weyl.
473. From

Dear friend
Einstein,
Mrs. Besso has determined
with
great diligence
all
the
disbursements, as
far
as
is
possible;[1]
they
are
admittedly
surprisingly large,
but
with
the
nursing
change
and
the sister’s
falling ill,
the
entire
situation
was
just
affected
even more
unfortunately.[2]
Mrs.
Besso
is
now pressing, as
I
do,
that
your
wife
be
placed
in
a
hospital,
to be
more
precise,
I
am
thinking
of
the
Affoltern Civil
Hospital,
where
there
is
a
very competent doctor,
Dr.
Grob,[3]
who would
certainly
do
us
the
favor of
admitting
your
wife.
For
your
little
boy
we
have
good
accommodations
in
Appenzellerland
for
Fr
120
per
month
+
clothing;
I
expect
to take him
there
shortly
so
that
I
can
also become convinced of
the
conditions from
a
personal
impression as
well.
Why
you were
angry
at
me,[4]
as
you
write in
introduction,
is in
actual
fact
not clear to
me,
but
I
also do
not
desire clarification.
So
we
are
taking
Albert
in
again temporarily;[5]
Mrs. Besso has found
lodging
with
a
secondary-school
teacher’s
family
with
a
boy
of
about the
same
age,
which would
come
into consideration
in
case my
wife
could
not
come
back
owing
to
our
sick
little
child.[6]
We must leave
your
wife’s
sister in
the
asylum
for
a
while
longer
until
we can
bring
her
home.[7] All
this would cost
something
and
is
ridiculously
expensive
when looked
at
from
a
distance;
in
emergency
situations, not
much
else
can
be
done, unfortunately,
than
what
we are now
presenting
to
you
and
what
Mrs. Besso has
prepared,[8]
in order
to
keep
the
budget
and
the
ca.
Fr
6,000-6,500
in
balance.
With
greetings
from
your respectful colleague,
Zangger
Your
letters
just
arrived. Let
us
look
at
the
facts
as
physicists
should.
Albert
must take his
exams
in
April;[9]
everything
must
first be
arranged.
