As
concerns philosophers
in
the
proper sense, up
to
now
I
have
negotiated
with
two German full
professors
about
joining
this editorial
committee;
one
is
Cornelius in
Frankfurt
on
M[ain],
who
immediately consented,
especially
consid-
ering
that
he had
independently expressed,
even
before
I
did,
ideas
that
fit in
the
new
journal’s
entire
program.[12]
The second
is
the
Tübingener
Karl
Groos,
who
represents
similar ideas in his
game
theory
and
his
aesthetical and
epistemological
analyses.[13]
He
also
agreed right
away.
Negotiations are
still
underway
with
other
philosophers.
I
just
found out
now
from
Professor
Frischeisen-Köhler[14]
that
you, highly
esteemed
colleague,
mentioned
that
you
have
a
close
philosophical affinity
to
the
direction advocated
by me,
and
so
I
may
perhaps
venture
to
request
your joining
the
above-described editorial committee and
thus
also
forming a public
link with
the
new
philosophical
line. I
have
long
been
following your highly significant
publications
attentively,
and it
soon
became clear to
me
that
a
philosophical
mind
is
behind them that
coincides in
essential
parts
with
those convictions
that
I
myself
consider to be
the
correct
ones.
Through
such
an
alliance
our
influence
on
each
other
would be
mutually strengthened,
and
a
fruitful
collaboration
would
have to
result
in
being
useful to
both
sides.
On
the
one
hand,
your
new
theory
of
relativity
would be
incorporated
into
the
overall
philosophical
trend,
on
the
other
hand,
this trend
would be enriched
by your
ideas.
The
first volume
of
the
new
periodical
is appearing
in
a
few weeks
comprising
approximately 45 printed
sheets.
A great
deal of material has
already
been ad-
mitted
for
the
second
volume,
which
is projected
to
appear
in
4 separate
issues,
and
provisions
have
already
been made for
other
volumes
as
well.
I
am, naturally,
happy
to
provide you
with
more
information.
Those scholars whose
names
appear
on
the
cover
of
the
journal will
receive
a
complimentary copy regularly
from the
publisher.
Should
you, highly
esteemed
colleague,
not
have
a
personal copy
of
Philosophie
des Als
Ob,
I
should consider it
an
honor to
submit
to
you
a
copy
of
the
recently
published
3rd edition of
this
book.[15]
There
is
no
obligation
to deliver
papers,
of
course,
but it
would
please
the
editors
exceedingly
to
receive
a
contribution,
esp.
from
[you]
as well, now
and
then.
In
requesting a
prompt
and,
I
hope, positive reply,
and in
expressing my
great
respect as a colleague,
yours very truly,
Vaihinger.
