REVIEWS FOR THE
BEIBLÄTTER

which he had reviewed in 1905. The rather
abrupt
reduction in the extent
of Einstein's
reviewing
work
beginning
in
1906
may
be connected with his
promotion early
that
year
to
Technical
Expert,
Second
Class,
at
the Swiss Patent Office.
It
is
also possible that the
reviewing
work took
up
too much
of
his time.
The reviews
have been dated
by
the
approximate
date
of
their
publication.
In 1904 and
thereafter,
each
yearly
volume
consists
of
twenty-four
undated
issues.[15]
For
convenience
in
placing
the reviews
in
chronological sequence,
we
have assumed that two issues
ap-
peared
each
month,
and
accordingly
date each review to the first
or
second
half of
the
appropriate
month.
[15] Twenty-three
issues
were
devoted to
reviews,
one
to
the
annual index.
