Je vois
combien
vous
souffrez et je
sympathise avec
vous.
Vous
connaissez
l’Allemagne,
et
je
n’ai
pas
de
peine
à
croire
que ce que vous
en
dites est tristement vrai. Mais
vous ne
connaissez
pas
les
souffrances,
“de l‘autre
côté”. Le mal
fait
tache d’huile. Toutes les nations sont
solidaires,
alors même
qu’elles
se
combattent; et
l'on
n’a
pas
encore
trouvé le
moyen
d’arrêter
les
épidé-
mies
morales,-comme
les autres,-aux frontières. La
guerre
actuelle
me paraît
un
combat contre
l’hydre
de Lerne.
Pour
chaque
tête
tranchée,
il
en
renaît deux

crois

à l’efficacité de
