DOCS. 221-223 AUGUST
1910

221.
To
Ludwig
Hopf
[Zurich,
19
August 1910]
Dear
Mr.
Hopf:
My
wife
&
the
little
one
feel unwell all
the
time,
so
that
we
must suspend
our
musical
evenings
for
the
time
being.
This also confines
me
to
the
house. But if
you
come
to
see
me,
I
will be
very
pleased.-
With
Ignatowsky[1]
it
is
indeed
as
you
suspected.
He
draws conclusions
that contradict
mine and
then
wants
my
approval.[2]
But
I sent
him
packing
and
am
just
now
working
on
a
note
about
rigid
bodies,
intended
for the Annalen, in which I
seek
to
clarify
the
situation
by means
of
a
quite elementary argument.
If
you
come,
I'll
show
you
this
rather
amusing piece.
With
best
regards,
your
Einstein
222.
To
Paul Hertz
[Zurich,
26
August 1910]
Dear
Mr.
Hertz:
I
totally agree
with
your
proposal.
The
only difficulty
is
how
should
we
meet in
Basel,
because
I do
not
know in advance in which
hotel
a room
will be
reserved for
me.[1]
Please write
me
exactly by
which
train
you
will arrive in Basel.
If
at
all
possible,
I will
then
pick you up
at
the
railway
station.
If
this
is not
possible,
then
you
will
find
a
message
from
me
at
the
railway
station
post
office.
223. To Franz Rusch
[Zurich,
26
August 1910]
Dear
Rusch,
Thank
you
for
your postcard. Hopf
and I
are
sitting
here in the
Aepfelkammer[1]
with Prof.
Sommerfeld
&
have
been
thinking
of
you
too.
It's
a pity you are
not
here.
I wish
you
a
very
cheerful
vacation,
which
you
are
probably
savoring
in full.
With best
regards, your
Einstein
