I
hope
you
have received
my
telegram,
which
I
had sent
immediately.

Although
my
life
is not
going
so
smoothly,
I
still feel like
standing
on
my
head-dancing with
joy. Happiness.

Please send
me
your

since I
only
rarely
see

Nice
of Forrer
I
wrote him
Sunday,
since he
is
now
the
president
of the Federal
Council,
that
it
would be
very
desirable-you
had
received
other
inquiries,[6]
to
come
to
a
decision.
The
thing
is
scheduled
for
Tuesday.[7]
The
telegram
will be sent to
me on
Tuesday
at 11:20.
For
such
a
thing
it's worth
getting annoyed by
a
few
people,
especially
if
the
thing
concerns my
friend
Einstein[8]

From Heinrich Schenk
Bern, 31 January 1912,

a.m.
Dear
Einstein,
Just
now,
as
I
was
reading
the
Bund-you still
remember
the
devotional
morning
hour
during
which this occurs[1]-I
see
in the column
"Proceedings
of the Federal
Council"
that
you
have
been elected Professor of Theor.
Physics
at
the
"Poly."[2]
This
news
pleases
me extraordinarily!
Even
if
you
will
no
longer
ascend
the "throne"
next to
my
office seat,
you
will still
get
out
of
faraway Prague,
about
which
we
in Switzerland
always
learn
only totally
indifferent
things
from the newspapers-to be within
easy
reach
again.
In
fact,
it
is
not
you,
but
our
Fed.
Polytech.
Institute,
which
deliberated
so long
before
deciding
to
act,[3]
whom I
congratulate
most
on
the
appointment!
After
you
have
entered
your
new
domain,
give
me
and
the
rest
of
your
old coworkers
the
pleasure
of
coming by
to
see us
in
our
patent
factory!
Until
then, with
best
wishes,
your
H.
Schenk
Colleague Müller[4]
also sends his
best
wishes.
