431. To
Clara Stern
[Zurich] Friday evening
[14
March
1913][1]
Dear
Mrs.
Stern,
I
am answering
your
kind
postcard
on
behalf
of
my
somewhat
ailing
wife
(toothache).
We will be
delighted
to visit
you
tutti
quanti
on
Sunday,
with
baby-bear
and
fiddle. All
of
us
look
forward
to
it
with
great pleasure.
Best
wishes
to
you,
the
Professor,
and Miss
Bubi,[2]

Elsa Löwenthal
[Zurich, ca
14
March
1913][1]
Dear
Elsa,
Thank
you
so
much
for
your
letter. It
was very
kind
of
you
to
have
thought
of
me.[2]
There
is
no
book
on
relativity
that
is
comprehensible
to
laymen.
But
what
do
you
have
a
relat.
cousin for?
If
you
ever
happen
to be in
Zurich,
then
we
(without
my
wife,
who
is unfortunately
very jealous) will
take
a
nice
walk,
and I will tell
you
about
all
those
curious
things
that
I discovered
at
that
time.
At the
moment I
am
working
on
the
extension[3]
of the
theory,
which
is
very
difficult,
however. I will
try
to
find
a
picture
of
myself
for
you.
I
would
prefer
to
come
in
person,
but
I
am
saddled
with
so
much work
that
I
have
to
be
glad
if
I manage just to keep up
even
though
I work all
day
long
without
allowing myself any
rest. Noblesse
oblige-this
fame
is
associated
with
a measure
of
misery.
If
you
wish
to
make
me
really happy,
then
arrange to spend
a
few
days
here
some
time.
With
best
regards,
also
to
your
little
children,[4] your
