can
occur
right
afterwards, though.
I
have
written
to the
landlord[2]
but
have
not
yet
received
a reply.
I did
it
in
writing
so
that
I
have
something
in
hand.
So
please
do write
me
in
Sellin.
Affectionate
greetings, yours,
Albert
Einstein.
96. To Arnold Sommerfeld
Sellin
(Rügen),
15 July
[1915]
Dear
Sommerfeld,
I
am
in favor of
having
the little
volume
published unchanged
without
having
the
general
theory of relativity
included,
because
none
of
the
current
expositions
on
the latter
is
complete.[1]
Easiest would be to
use
the
first
of
the Annalen
papers
and
the
Academy
paper.[2] However,
I
have
the
intention
of
writing
a
special
little
book
as an
introduction
to
relativity theory,
wherein
the
discussion leads to
the
general
theory of rel.
from
the
very
beginning.[3]
In
Göttingen
I
had
the
great pleasure
of
seeing
that
everything was
understood
down to
the
details.[4] I
am
quite
enchanted with Hilbert.
That’s
an
important
man
for
you!
I
am
very
curious to know
your opinion.
I
am
glad
that
you
have
thought
of Freundlich’s
paper;[5]
it
is
surely
funda-
mental. Grossmann
will
never
lay
claim
to
being
co-discoverer. He
only helped
in
guiding
me
through
the mathematical literature but contributed
nothing
of
substance
to
the
results.-[6]
If
you
should
be
set
on having
the
gen.
theory of rel.
represented
in
the
new
edition after
all,
that
is
also all
right
with
me.
Cordial
greetings, yours,
Einstein.
I
have sent
the
magn. paper
to Lenz.[7]

Highly
esteemed

Allow

a
request.
