146 DOCS. 142-144
NOVEMBER
1915
142. To
Hans Albert Einstein
[Berlin,
15
November
1915]
My
dear
Albert,
I would
like
to
come
to
Switzerland
around
New
Year’s,
in order
to
spend
a
couple
of
days
with
you.
Prof.
Zangger
has
surely already
made the
suggestion
to
you.[1]
Where would
you
like
to
go
with
me
most?
Naturally,
not
very
far
away
from Zurich. Prof.
Zangger
thought
we
ought
to
go
to Mr.
Besso’s.[2] I
am
not
sure
whether
you’d
like that,
though.
Maybe
it
would be
better
if
we were
alone
somewhere.
What
do
you
think?
Kisses to
you
and Tete from
your
Papa.
143. To
Mileva Einstein-Maric
[Berlin,
15
November
1915]
D[ear]
Mileva,
Your
letter[1]
honestly pleased me,
because
I
can
draw from it
that
you
don’t
want to
undermine
my
relations with
the
boys.
I
tell
you,
for
my
part,
that
these
relations make
up
the
most
important
personal
element in
my
life.
In the future
I’ll
settle
everything
that involves them with
you,[2]
if
I
find
your
letter confirmed.
I
intend
to
travel
to
Switzerland
at
the
turn
of
the
year,
in
order
to
see
at
least
Albert
outside of Zurich and to
spend
a
few
days
with him. Do
you
have
any
particular
wish
regarding
the
choice of
location?
Best
regards,
yours,
Albert
Einstein.
144. To
David Hilbert
[Berlin,]
Monday.
[15
November
1915][1]
Highly
esteemed
Colleague,
Your
analysis
interests
me
tremendously, especially
since
I
often racked
my
brains to construct
a
bridge
between
gravitation
and
electromagnetics.
The hints
you
give
in
your postcards[2]
awaken
the
greatest
of
expectations.
Nevertheless,
I must
refrain
from
traveling
to
Göttingen
for
the
moment and
rather
must
wait
