DOCS. 208-210 APRIL
1916
207
As it
stands, I
am coming
to Zurich to
go on a
short
hike
of
approx.
10
days
duration with
Albert,
if
possible
also with Tete.
I
am
going
to
stay
in Zurich at
a
hotel
or a
guest-house,
as
Albert
had wished
the last
time.[4] I
hope confidently
that this
time
you
will
not withhold
the
boys
from
me
almost
entirely
again.[5]
If
you
repeat
what
you
did
the last
time,
I
shall not
return
to Zurich
so soon.
I
don’t want to force
anything,
but
also don’t
want to
have to
beg
for
my right
to
be
together
with
my boys.
I’ll
be
arriving
in Zurich
in about
a
week if
I
manage
to
come across
the
border
right
away.
I
emphasize
once
again
that
the circumstance
that
I could not
live
with
you
personally
has
no
bearing
on
my
relations with
the
boys.
I
would be
happy
if
I
could have
the
children with
me
and
am
attached
to
him
them
no
less
than
before.
My leaving
them to
you
alone
means a severe
sacrifice
on
my
part,
not
a
lack of
attachment
and
paternal
feeling.
With
kind
regards,
A. E.
Kisses
to
the
boys.
209. To
Michele
Besso
[Zurich,
6 April
1916][1]
Dear
Michele,
I,
Albert,
have
run
down
your
empty
snail shell of
a
hide-away[2]
with
great
effort,
after
having
arrived here
just
this afternoon.
Telephone
me
tomorrow
morning
at
the Gotthard Hotel
(train station),
where
I
have taken
a room.
Or
even
better,
look
me
up
there.
I
am
very
eager
to
see
you. Yours,
Albert.
210. To Hans Albert and Eduard Einstein
[Zurich,]
Thursday.
[6
April
1916]
Dear Adn and
Tete,
I
arrived here
just
now.
I
am
staying
at
the Gotthard
Hotel,
Bahnhof
St.,
right
next to
the train
station,
room no. 50,
and
am
enormously happy
to
be
