260. To Michele Besso
[Berlin,]
26 September 1916
Dear
Michele,
Tomorrow
I
am
going
to
Leyden
to
Ehrenfest.
I’m
very
much
looking
forward
to
meeting
our
colleagues
there
and to
the
discussions. Nordstrom
is
there
as
well.[1]
I have been
accomplishing
little
recently
but
am
living
peacefully
and
contentedly;
that’s
not bad either. When
you are
back in
Zurich,
write
me
your
address there. For
I
do
not
consider
myself justified
in
assuming
that
you
will
still be
living
at
10
Zehnder Lane. Did
you
find what
you
wanted in Berne? Did
you
see Spoerri?[2]
He
wanted to look
you up.
We
shall
see
each
other
again
in
the
spring,
God
willing.
I
must
admit,
though,
that
I
hesitate
to
imagine
myself
traveling
to
Zurich
again.
My
last
trip
resulted in
my
Albert
no
longer answering
me.[3]
Affectionate
greetings
also to Anna and
Vero, yours,
Albert.

[Berlin,]
26 September
[1916]
Dear
Albert,
I
am
writing you
now
for
the third
time
without
receiving a
reply
from
you.
Don’t
you
remember
your
father
anymore?
Are
we
not
even
going
to
see
each
other
again?
I hear with
great
relief
from
my
friends
Zangger
and
Besso
that
Mama
is
feeling
better
again.
I wrote
twice
to
your
aunt
in
Novy
Sad
(Kissacer
Alley).
She wanted
to
visit
you all.[1]
If she
is
not
yet
with
you,
do write to her
very
soon.
She
is
very
attached
to
all of
you
and
never
gets any
letters.
Kisses also
to
Tete from
your
Papa.
Regards
to Mama.
