Hans Albert Einstein
[Berlin,]
15
October
[1917][1]
My
dear
Albert,
You have
certainly
inherited
your letter-writing
diligence
from
your
father.
What
are
you up
to all
the
time, you
little
rascal? Do write
me
sometime
about
what
you
have to do at
school,[2]
and how
you
like
the individual
subjects.
What
do
you
do in
your
free time? Do
you
also
play
the
piano?
I
am
quite busy
this
semester
and since
leaving
Zurich have
already
written
a
nice
paper.[3]
What
is
the
food
like
at
home,
and
the
heating?[4]
Have
you possibly gotten
thinner
already?
If
anything
troubles
you
or
something
is
wrong,
write
me
about
it.
I
still remember
exactly
how I felt at
your age as
a
schoolboy
in
Munich,[5] so
I’ll
understand
everything you
say.
Do
you
still dislike
reading?
Do
you
have friends
with
whom
you
go on
walks,
or
do
you
go
alone?
Do
you
write to
Tete?[6]
When
you reply
to
me,
take this
letter
in
hand
and
answer
my
questions.
Then
writing will
be easier for
you
as
well. How is
Mama
doing?
Ask her if she
has received
the
1,000
marks for
Tete,[7]
and write
me
again
about that.
Affectionate
greetings
from
your
Papa.
Regards
also to Mama and
Aunt.[8]
