MARCH
1918
anything is
possible.
One of these
days
I’m
going
to
call
on
the
Ministry
about
the
pension; you’ll
then
immediately
receive
news
of
the
outcome.[5]
Believe
me,
the
security
of all of
you
is just
as
close
to
my
heart
as
it
is to
yours. My
health
is
good enough,
but it
is
still
very delicately balanced;
I lie
down for
the
greater
part
of
the
day
and
am being
fed
similarly
to
a
recently
weaned
infant.[6]
Despite
this,
there
are
occasional
scares,
and
any agitation is
sure
to
cause a
relapse.
I’m
going
to
write
to
Albert
right
now
and shall enclose
the letter.
Best
regards, yours,
Albert.

In
answer
to
your
postcard to
the
bank:
1000 M.
were
sent
off
to
you
three
times in October. The first
two
remittances
were
for
the
regular
quarterly
expenses,
the last
especially
for
Tete;[7]
it
left at
the
end of October. If
you
have
not received
them,
let
me
know.
I’ll
then
have
it
checked
at
the
bank.
But
I
have
difficulty imagining
that
an
irregularity
has occurred.
I
sent
to
Anna the
statement
sent
to
me
by
the
bank
that the
money
had been sent
off
about
one
month
ago as
documentation.[8]
Whether the
Ministry
consents to
the transferral
of
the
pension
is uncertain
at
the
moment.
No
decision should be
expected
soon.
If Dr. Zürcher
agrees,
the
following
modus could be chosen:
1)
A
sum
(separate
from
my
savings)
is
deposited notarially,
the
interest of which
should
provide you
with
a
pension
in
the
case
of
my
death.
2)
The
trust account is
closed
again:
a)
If
the
Ministry grants the
petition.
b) If
the
Nobel Prize
is
allotted to
you.[9]
The
deposit
can
be carried out
as soon as
I
have received and
approved
of
your
draft.[10]
