this institute

much
time,

papers
are
already
in
press.
Allow
me
to
say
one
thing:
I
am obviously
but
a
small
part
of
physics
in
Zurich and
it
cannot be
captured
comprehensively enough
in
writing;
do
please
come
here sometime and
speak
with all who
are a
factor in
the
consideration.
You
will
see
how much
you
are
wanted here.

shall do
everything
I
can
to
satisfy
all
your
wishes. Please
come
sometime,
have
a
look at

new

conditions at
the

everything

Dear
Professor,
How
pleased
I
was
with
your
letter.
At
the
beginning
of it,
news
of
the best
physical well-being possible
for
you;
in
the
middle,
an
amusing
description
of
your
environment
and
its
effect
on
you and,
at
the
end,
a
profession
of contentment
with the
world
and the
strongest
affirmation of
life.
If
ever
there
were
precondi-
tions for
physical
and mental
reinvigoration,
this
time
they
appear
to be
present
in
your case,
and
that
is
why
I
am
full of
happy expectations
of
you.
I
am
almost
filled
with
envy
when
I read
that
you
are
roasting
in the
sun on
sand
dunes.[2] I
would
like
to do
that
one
day
as well;
but
here
we
had
mostly
cool
days,
often
rain,
and
I
only sparingly
became
privy
to
what
I
need:
light
and
heat.
Even
so,
since
I
am
being boundlessly
lazy,
I
also
am
fulfilling
one
portion
of
my
mission
that
way
and
hope
that
upon
my
return to Berlin
(end
of
August)
I shall be
more
receptive
and
capable
of
working again
than
I
was
during
the
summer.
Then it’s back to
the
old
grindstone again,
and
that’s
good-because
since I do not have
your
cheerful
optimism,
I
need
steady
occupation
to
distract
myself
and drown
it
out.
