to the statutes of the Jewish Community of Berlin, the amount of tax is set accord-
ing to the national income tax, as is described in more detail in the commentary to
the assessment being forwarded to you. The community is therefore not legally au-
thorized to disregard your assessment pursuant to the rule. We permit ourselves to
point out that a large part of the tax revenues are used for those purposes that your
generous offer had in mind so that your intentions are also realized by a payment
in the form of a tax.
