DOCS. 340-342
MAY 1917 331
I
mean
to
come
to
Switzerland at
the
beginning
of
July
and
am
looking
forward
to
it
very
much.
Albert
will
be accommodated
at
my
sister’s
by
then,
I
hope.[4]
Thanks
again
for
your
efforts at
the
Phys.
Society;[5]
it
is to
be
hoped
they will
be of
some use.
Affectionate
greetings, yours,
Albert.

Dear
Colleague,
I
would
very
much like
to
participate
in
your interesting
conferences.[1] How-
ever,
I
have
a
serious liver
condition[2]
and must avoid all
temptations
away
from
maintaining
a
hypochondriacal lifestyle, entirely
on
doctor’s
orders, although
it
has
improved again
somewhat
compared
to 4
months
ago.
Wishing
you
a
productive
meeting, though,
and
favorable
work,
with
best
regards,
yours,
A.
Einstein.
It
seems
that
we
simultaneously
found
the
same generalization
of
the
quantum
law.[3]

Dear friend
Einstein,
I
received
letter
& postcard.
At such
distance, you
have
many
a
worry
you
would
not
have here.
It
is
good news
that
job
&
income
are continuing,
but
here
there
would also
be
position
&
money
&
everything
without
having
to
be
Kappeler,
to
whom
you
allude, comfortably
arranged
without all
the
obligations.[1]
Albert
is
very
cheerful
& stable,
a
good, careful, mentally alert,
dear
fellow.
He
has been here for almost
a
fortnight
4 weeks
now.
The
day following
his
move
he
fell sick
at his mother’s with
diarrhea,
that’s
all.[2]
Now
he
can
eat
everything again.
For
a
time
we
both
followed
the
same
diet
together.
He
stayed
in bed for
4
days.
