D O C U M E N T 1 8 6 J A N U A R Y 1 9 2 6 2 0 3 14 February 1926 Dear Mr. Kohn, Magnes’s letter and this one stayed behind with Ehrmann [5] I am sending the letter among other things. Today, I again spoke extensively with Mr. Ehrmann about the situation. Result: No confrontational position against Magnes, instead, constant pressure and refusal to authorize any step to which he is not entitled. So, write to him in my name and in Weizmann’s that we note that he has not complied with our request to retract his minutes, and that we will therefore submit the matter to the next session of the Board of Governors. Also, in the future, the draft of the minutes is to be read back in each session and approved at the end of the session. That way we can prevent such after-the-fact stunts. Moreover, we have to insist on the fact that nothing in the approved ¢protocol² preliminary budget can be changed.[6] Thus, instruction that Amira and the library must be paid out the money allocated to them. It appears, in particular, that Amira still hasn't been paid his salary (from May through September (?).[7] We must also point out that, according to our decisions, Kliegler was only coordinat[ing] the re- maining department heads.[8] I also consider the discussion with the American doctors proposed by Ehrmann for April quite necessary. We must be in complete agreement with them that noth- ing stands between us. The interview can thus be launched. I prefer that. I’m keeping the text here.[9] Best regards, to Mr. Weizmann as well, from your A. Einstein
