And is allowed to lie under tall beech trees! And can live in a beautiful, light-filled house on the beach. He’s being madly pampered by four women who hover around him to make his life more delightful.[2] If all that doesn’t help make him healthy, then I don’t know what else will! Best regards to your lovely wife,[3] her letter was a great joy for me. I like her so much, tell her that. Margotl is roaming around. Meadows, woods, flowers, sea, everything that makes her happy is there! Ilse and Rudi are also coming,[4] then the family idyll will be complete. Sincerely yours, Elsa Einstein 240. To Hedwig Fischer-Landshoff [Scharbeutz, 19 July 1928][1] In such a lovely natural setting, some people enjoy seeing themselves revert from animals to plants (plants because of the prohibition on moving). I differ from such people only in my inveterate ability to make bad jokes. Both the harem and the two men[2] are thinking of you and send you their regards Especially your A. Einstein 241. To Carl Heinrich Becker [Scharbeutz,] 21 July 1928 Dear Minister, Your cordial greetings gave me much pleasure. I can hardly tell you how much I admire your successful and courageous battle for a freer intellectual development.[1] Very respectfully yours, A. Einstein
