the
right
little
woman
for
me.
He
also
understands
entirely
that
I
could
not
live
with Miza. It
was
not
her
ugliness,
but
her
obstinacy,
lack of accommodation
and
flexibility
and
tenderness which had ruled out
a
fusion.
He
does not consider
me
a
hard
inhuman
person
but
loves
me
just
as
much
as
before.
My colleagues
outdo
one
another
in
their
friendliness toward
me.[7]
Nernst
is
extremely friendly again.
Planck
is
so more
than
ever
before.
Surely
the
pain
of
separation
from
my
children
will
ease soon
and
I’ll
be
so
content
that
I
shall
want
to
envy
myself.
All
three
of
you
enjoy yourselves,
with
a
hug
to
you
from
your prolific penman,
Albert.
I
long
for
you very much;
but
I will
bear it
obediently
and
stay
here. At lunchtime
I stay
at
the institute
and
consume raw
milk
(!)
and bread
there,
and
this
daily,
alone in
my
room.
In
the
evenings
I
am
with
[?].

My
dear
Else,
Since
the
recent
events I
find
myself
in such
a
harassed state
that
for
the
time
being
I
can
do
nothing
better than
seek
rest,
composure,
and
distance
in
peaceful
seclusion out
here.[2]
That’s
why
I
am avoiding meeting people as
much
as
possible,
even
my
mother
and
your parents,
inasmuch
as
I
can
do
so
without
it
appearing offensive. Unfortunately
even
my energy
for
working
and
my ability
to
sleep
have
now
diminished,
and the
instability of
my
own
emotional
state is
hard
even
for
me
to
tolerate.
But this is
not
the first
exhausting
time
that
I have
gone
through;
it
will
pass.
I
received
your
letter.
Haber
also
received
your
letter; you
have
probably
al-
ready
received his
reply.
I
am
not
answering your
letter
now
because
my
muddled
state does
not
allow it.
But
I
assure
you
that
I love
you
and
will
never
part
from
you.
Have
patience
and be content! In
the
interim,
until
you
are
here
again, you
have
your
children and
I
have
my
work. I
am
associating
with Haber
strictly
objectively again
now.
He feels
that
I
must
cope
with
my
mental turmoil
on
my
own.
Fond kisses and write
soon
in
friendship, yours,
Albert.
Greet Ilse and
Margot
warmly
from
me.
