Wilhelmstr. 48.” [1] The Internationale Arbeiterhilfe (IAH) grew out of the Auslandskomitee zur Organisierung der Arbeiterhilfe für Sowjetrußland, which was established in Berlin on 12 August 1921. Initially, the IAH focused its work on famine relief for the Soviet Union. In the harsh winter of 1923/24, the com- mittee sought to alleviate the dire plight of German workers, many of whom were severely malnour- ished (see Münzenberg 1931, p. 156, Finker 1964, p. 928, and Haferkorn 1973, p. 964).
