Dear Weyl,
I finally submitted your petition[1] to the Academy and learned that such an
inquiry was not even necessary, because the paper had appeared more than two
years ago. A rejection would not have had any major effect, either, because the
paper is, of course, already printed.[2] –
The canal-ray experiment had a negative outcome, which ultimately means a ref-
utation of the field theory of electricity.[3] Now what?
