Dear Dr. Einstein,
I have the pleasure in enclosing you herewith a copy of the booklet issued by the
joint Publicity Department of the Zionist Organization and the Keren Hayesod, in
reply to charges made against these two
bodies.[3]
You will observe that the first part of the booklet deals with the controversy
between the World Zionist Organization and the Zionist Organization of America
regarding the Keren Hayesod, whilst the second portion consists of replies to the
report of the Reorganisation Commission which visited Palestine last
winter.[4]
As you have received a copy of the charges made by the Brandeis
group,[5]
we
feel that it is only reasonable to send you this booklet, so that you may see what
reply was made on behalf of the World Zionist Organization.
Yours faithfully,
TLC (IsJCZA, KH1/193). [91 594]. The letter is addressed “Professor Einstein, c/o Keren Hayesod,
Abteilung fuer Centraleuropa, Saechsische Strasse 8, Berlin W.15.”
[1]Levin is presumably the author as he was the director of the head office of the Palestine Foun-
dation Fund (Keren Hayesod) in London, and this document was found in the files of that office.
[2]Decade identified by the reference to the controversy regarding the Keren Hayesod.
[3]For the charges made by the Brandeis group against the Zionist Organisation (ZO) and the Keren
Hayesod in regard to the ZO’s University Fund, see Doc. 128, note 3.
[4]In late 1920, the Zionist Executive in London authorized the three members of the Reorganiza-
tion Commission—Julius Simon, Nehemia de Lieme, and Robert Szold—to visit Palestine and to
investigate Zionist activities there. Their report constituted a forceful indictment of the work of the
Zionist Commission in Palestine (see Report 1921; Panitz 1978, pp. 90–92; and Wasserstein 1977a,
p. 151).

Sehr verehrter Herr Kollege:
