Dear, dear Einstein—be nice to Joffe—he’s been wanting to make your acquain-
tance since 1905 but always missed the chance. You will enjoy him very
much[15]
[You liked everyone I recommended to you!]—as a physicist as well as a person.
Let me hear from you—a couple of words—through a letter from your wife.—Van
Aardenne[16]
and I are waiting impatiently for news about when you are traveling
through Holland.—Yours,
P. Ehrenfest.

Draft!
Dear Friend of the League,
The financial situation of the New Fatherland League [Bund Neues Vaterland]
causes us to approach you with the request to donate a
sum[4]
to assist in securing
the league’s work for the remainder of the year. It would be absolutely essential to
obtain for running office expenses these 6 months @ 5,000 marks. In addition, it
would be desirable to raise another 20,000 marks for the occasional hiring of
professional assistants and sending of representations to international
conferences.[5]
In total 50,000 marks. The balance of the cash account comes to
1,200 marks, thus salary payments at the end of June are
jeopardized.[6]
