DOCUMENTS 463, 464 AUGUST 1913 543 AKSX. [39 419]. The postcard is addressed "Herrn & Frau Prof. Stern Engl. Viertelstr. 58 Zürich.," and postmarked "Maloja (Graubünden) 6.VIII. 13." [1]Samaden (1725 m), canton of Graubünden, is the main village of the Upper Engadine. It lies in the Inn Valley, 22 km from the village of Maloja (1812 m). The route from there to Lake Como in Italy (54 km) leads over the Maloja Pass (1817 m) in a southwesterly direction. Twelve years earlier Einstein and his fiancee, Mileva Marid, traveled from the Lake of Como northward over the Splügen Pass (see Mileva Marie to Helene Savid, second half of May 1901, Vol. 1, Doc. 109). [2]Mileva Einstein-Marid signs for herself and son Hans Albert. 463. To Paul Langevin [Val Bregaglia?, before 9 August 1913] [. . .][1] Lieber Herr Langevin! Auf dieser wunderbaren Tour durch das Engadin und Bergell haben wir Ih- rer viel in Freundschaft gedacht.[2] Viele herzliche Grüsse von Ihrem A. Einstein. AKS (Luce Langevin, Paris). [15 339]. Appended to a greeting from Marie Curie on a postcard addressed in Curie's hand to "Monsieur Paul Langevin Moulin de Rodie Colombieres sur Orb Herault France," The postmark is obscured. The docketed postmark is "[Colombieres sur Orb] Herault 9-8 13 18:45." [1]A greeting from Marie Curie is omitted. [2]Einstein and a party including Marie Curie (see Doc. 465) traveled in a southwesterly di- rection through the Upper Engadine region to reach the Val Bregaglia, both of which are in the canton of Graubünden. The valley of the Bregaglia consists of six sections, the two lowermost of which are located in Italy. Einstein had made Langevin's acquaintance at the first Solvay Congress (see Doc. 303). 464. Mit gleicher Post sende ich Ihnen mein Manuskript für den Wiener Vor- trag.[1] Ich wäre Ihnen sehr verbunden, wenn Sie für baldigen Druck sorgten, sodass ich um 5.
