Mar 14 ALS from Wilhelm von Gonzenbach. Is informed by AE’s
sons that an Assistent position is available at the Potsdam
Astrophysical Observatory and that AE is searching for a
secretary. Recommends his sister-in-law for either of these
positions. She lives in the U.S., and asks AE to meet her

Mar 15 TDS. Takes the oath of allegiance to the Prussian constitu-
tion after an explanation was read out loud that the civil ser-
vants are to obey the constitution as servants of the state and
not of any party, but that they are not restricted in their con-
stitutional freedom to join political parties or associations as

TLC to Payot. Lucien Fabre has published a foreword with
AE’s name in his book. Declares that he had not written a
foreword to the book, and expects adequate public counter-

thoughts on the importance of language for the survival of
