TL from the editor of Nature. Sir Oliver Lodge has pro-
posed that Einstein 1920j be published in Nature. Solicits

ALS from Johannes Staub. He had long been pondering the
“problem of ‘eternal return’” and has not found a way to
avoid thinking along atomistic-causal lines. From reading
Moszkowski 1921, he understands that AE would not neces-
sarily come to this conclusion, and urges him to send a reply
because his happiness depends on it. [25 284].
Nov 26 Lectures on “Wandlungen und Grundlagen der Physik in
den letzten zwanzig Jahren” at the Düsseldorf Schauspiel-
haus for the “Akademische Kurse für allgemeine Fortbil-

had lent to Hirschfeld. He requests its immediate return,
otherwise he will take measures against him. [43 904].
ALS from Alfred Louis Berthoud. Gives two expressions
for the mass increase of an electron moving in an electric
field: one derived from an energy expression, the second
from an electromagnetic expression. Asks which one is the
correct one. [25 023].
ALS from Harry Schmidt. In preparation for a lecture tour
in the U.S., requests a contact there to turn to for advice.
Attaches a copy of the Italian edition of Schmidt 1920, and
