Dec 6 TLC to M. P. Drosue. Thanks him for an invitation to a con-
gress of philosopy in France. The accumulation of scientific
work due to his travels, however, prevents him from accept-
ing. Suggests Paul Langevin as an excellent expert on rela-
tivity and its bearing on philosophy. [43 584].
TLC to Gaston Moch. Expresses his thanks for Moch 1921
and the errata in the French edition of Einstein 1917a. Rec-
ommends Maurice Solovine as a trustworthy assistant.
[44 472].
TLC to Rudolf Wolff, in reply to request for financial assis-
tance, requests additional information and indicates that he
might be of help. [45 277].
ALS from Maurice Solovine. Is interested in the French
translation of AE’s Princeton lectures. Gauthier-Villars is
prepared to publish them. Is now engaged in editing a new
anthology, and solicits a book from AE. Asks whether AE
delivers popular lectures at the University of Berlin that can
be published. Proposes as topic “Critical Reflections on the
Physical Theories of the Nineteenth Century.” Has not yet
approached Mrs. Untermyer because he does not yet know
when to leave France and what language to use to win her
goodwill. [21 155].
At the 8th general meeting of the KWG, chief bursar Franz
von Mendelssohn reports on the budget for the fiscal year
1920–1921, and reports 100,000 M as expenses for the
KWIP. [77 128].
Dec 7 TLS from Richard Fleischer, asking AE to write an article
for his Deutsche Revue on the stifling influence of a pedan-
tic education, an impediment to scientific creativity and
progress. [43 693].
TLS from Muller (Methuen). Cover letter to the agreements
on the English editions of Einstein 1921c and Lorentz et al.
1920. [69 008].
Dec 8 Submits “On an Experiment Concerning the Elementary
Process of Light Emission” (Vol. 7, Doc. 68) and communi-
