Gustav Müller, director of the Astrophysical Observatory,
Potsdam, asks minister of education to allow inclusion of
the observational test of general relativity in the research
plan of the observatory, and to use its premises for the erec-
tion of a tower telescope financed by the Einstein Donation
Fund; to inform about the possibility of allocating funds for
its operational cost in the budget of the observatory; and to
consent to the proposal that a commission be set up to man-
age the project, consisting of Einstein, the director of the
observatory, Erwin Freundlich, and a managerial adviser
from the Reichsverband der deutschen Industrie. Prove-
nance: GyBSa, I. HA, Rep. 76 Vc, Sekt. 1, Tit. 11, Teil 2,
Nr. 6i, Bd. 1, Bl. 1–2. [85 478].
1-page TLC to Adolf Lindemann. In answering Linde-
mann’s letter (see entry of 23 March) accepts invitation to
deliver a lecture in Hamburg in early June. Received an ear-
lier invitation from Wilhelm Blaschke, University of Ham-
burg. Asked the university to coordinate both requests.
Provenance: IsJHU. [44 533].
1-page TLC to Gaston Moch in Wiesbaden. Thanks for the
discovery of a misprint on p. 25 of Einstein 1917a (Vol. 6,
Doc. 42). Has an “impecunious” friend in Paris [Maurice
Solovine] who owns a moral right to the translation. Asks
that Moch wait for a while until the friend decides whether
or not to exercise his option. Will inform Moch if a possibil-
ity of translation arises. Provenance: IsJHU. [44 465].
