ter from E. Hahn, Strassbourg (apparently a request for per-
mission for a French translation). Admonishes Einstein not
to set too high a remuneration for it—proposes 25–30 cents
or 10% of the store price—because in France the aversion to
everything German is far stronger than in other Allied coun-
tries. Half of the 7th edition of Einstein 1917a (Vol. 6,
Doc. 42) has been sold, so they are considering an 8th edi-

March 13 Kapp Putsch in Berlin. A rebellion of the Ehrhardt naval bri-
gade, opposed to the dissolution of the Freikorps and the
reduction of the military ranks in accordance with the stipu-
lations of the Treaty of Versailles, installs a military regime
and Wolfgang Kapp as chancellor.
March 14 Largest general strike on record takes place in Germany.
