Maurette and A. Dufour-Feronce. Maurette is of the opinion that the German representative should be nominated in agreement with the government. Dufour-Feronce thinks that by accepting a post in the German dye in- dustry, W. von Moellendorff is excluded as representative. Everling is rejected by the government, too, leaving T. Brauer as the candidate. Since the next minister of labor will be a Social Democrat, Brauer’s chances will decrease and those of a candidate from the trade unions will grow. Decision should be made by 1 October. ALS. [46 413]. 602. Argues against promotion of his assistants and invitation of a new professor of chemistry to a department having psychopathic and un- talented colleagues. Lacks free hand in selecting his assistants. Made steps to obtain a chair in Germany or Switzerland. Until he receives a positive answer, he will not meddle in university matters and expects a fair treatment. ALS. [36 1039]. 604. From Walter Huth Berlin, 22 June 1928 During discussion at a meeting of the KWG, AE expressed his opinion that the physi- cally reasonable way to develop aviation is not to construct stronger and stronger en- gines in order to increase the propellers’ speed of rotation but to enlarge their surfaces. In the past five years he has been working on ornithopters. Has improved Franz Wels’s construction, and is ready to demonstrate it on a working model. TLS. [46 758]. 605. From A. Köser (Giro) Kiel-Neumühlen, 23 June 1928 Regrets the delay in replying to AE’s letter of 19 June 1928 (nonextant) regarding their agreement in DE394677 (Vol. 15, Docs. 377 and 378).
