She has not been well lately, is constantly tired, and devoid of energy. During the spring, Hans Albert has been engaged in practical training in street relocation and surveying for a local con- struction company. He intends to seek a position in South America once he has com- pleted his training. Asks AE to contact someone who could assist him and keep an eye on him should he move there. Is currently professor of physics in Kharkov, and needs an affidavit and permission from Berlin police to travel to Germany for two weeks to purchase books and instruments. Born in 1875, was assistant at the University of Strasbourg, 1905–1907. Sends regards to the “gnädigen Frau, ehemaligen Collega Mariü.” ALS. [43 274]. 395. He and M. Kunitz have been working on viscosity of gelatin in the attempt to find some rational formula for the peculiar concentration curves and found what they believe to be a misprint or an error in calculations in one of the last steps of Einstein 1906b. They are still hoping to receive AE’s contribution to the Loeb Memorial Volume. Recollects AE’s visit to New York. TLS. [25 147]. 398. To John Northrop [Berlin, after 5 April 1926] In reply to Abs. 397, AE indicates a misprint in Moses Kunitz’s manuscript. Recom- mends that Kunitz redo the experiment with suspension solutions for which coefficient is known in order to check water bonding. [25 148]. ADft at bottom of [25 147]. 399. From Georges Oprescu Geneva, 7 April 1926 Sends text of regulations regarding replacement of members unable to participate in a meeting. AE can select a person of his choice, as long as the administrative council agrees. AE should submit the name of such a person at the next meeting of the council in July. TLS. [34 927]. 400. The owner has difficulties and has asked H. Zangger whether he would take over the mortgage. She did not know about the whole story. The mortgage is for another three years. There is no need to worry. AKS. [144 397].
